If you consistently respond to anxiety by avoiding the situations, your brain learns to associate novelty or uncertainty with danger. Over time, this avoidance can condition you to resist new experiences, reinforcing the anxiety and limiting personal growth.
By gradually challenging these anxiety signals and exposing yourself to manageable new situations, you can retrain your brain to tolerate uncertainty and recognize that not all novelty, is a threat. #counseling #psychology #anxietyrelief #anxietysupport #psychotherapy
We remain trapped in vicious cycles, caught in the unresolved pain of our experiences. We start new relationships, unconsciously recreating old wounds. Pursue new things, leading to familiar discomfort. We change little but cling to hope that tomorrow will be different.
Today, you have opportunity to challenge your overthinking and choose meditation, stop your impulsive anger, and practice calmly expressing your needs. Today, show yourself compassion, and finally break the cycles of old wounds. ~K. Houston #Counseling #Therapy #psychotherapy #healingjourney
Be mindful of the complex range of emotions that arise in meaningful relationships. We often magnify the emotions we feel in close relationships, leading to intense highs but also profound lows.
Instead of reacting impulsively, practice stillness and self-observation. Avoid taking unnecessary or unproductive actions aimed at quickly resolving problems. In moments of stillness, the appropriate response to conflict often becomes clear. #relationships #relationshipmanagement #problemsolving

Ever heard the saying, "it's not just what you say, but how you say it?" That's where para-verbal communication comes in. Tone makes up a significant portion of our communication. Strengthen your effectiveness as a communicator by paying attention to both your words and your para-verbal communication. #Communication #ParaVerbal #MindfulCommunication
Building authentic boundaries can be tough for those who have experienced past trauma. If we've been hurt in the past, we might put up these walls to protect ourselves, but sometimes these walls lead to isolation and prevent us from establishing connection. We should reflect on our past experiences and emotions so that we are setting boundaries appropriately. #SelfReflection #HealthyBoundaries #EmotionalHealing
Life's challenges are where you discover your resilience and grow. Your habit of retreating from discomfort can show itself in the form of procrastination, avoidance of responsibilities, social withdrawal, or giving up on goals and tasks altogether. #PersonalGrowth #CourageousChoices #TakeAction πͺπ§
Stop numbing, start feeling! π I know it might seem like making yourself emotionally unavailable prevents you from ever allowing others to hurt you. The truth of the matter is that deciding to close yourself off from emotions only hurts you. Don't be afraid to experience the world of emotions again. #EmotionalWellness πͺπ§
If you control the emotion... You control the outcome.
Take a hard look at your relationship with anger. Then be truthful about which of these is YOU.
How many L's have you taken because you couldn't gain control of yourself???

A few thoughts for those whose perspective on diversity in the workplace is not yet fully formed. Remember, you get to CHOOSE how you think, feel, and interact with black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC).
